Summer Adventures

Summer in Gig Harbor brings a variety of outdoor family fun. Enjoy movies and live music in Skansie Brother’s Park each week. The first full weekend in June is the annual Maritime Gig weekend complete with parade, car show and fun run as well as a carnival atmosphere for kids, and demonstrations from local artists, dancers and musicians. Summer is prime time for paddleboarding and kayaking as well as exploring the vast local trail systems by foot or bike. Beautiful golf courses are best enjoyed during summer, and save room for food and drink festivals and tasting events. Enjoy patio and waterfront dining and sample regional wine and beer. Chalk the Harbor

Children, families and adults are invited to decorate the sidewalks of the downtown waterfront. The Alliance provides free chalk along with Certificates of Award in the following categories: Kids, Family, High School, College Students, Adult, Group and Best Maritime-Nautical art. We encourage participants to bring a chair or knee pads! A maritime theme is encouraged, though not required. Chalk the Harbor is a fun, FREE, family event. The Chapel on Echo Bay Concert

Happening in June is a new, free monthly concert series at the Chapel on Echo Bay for Members of the Fox Island Chapel Preservation Society. If you'd like, bring a dish to share at the 6:00 potluck before the 7:00 performance. Beer and wine will be available. If you are a current Member, we'll have your name at the door. If you, or your guests aren't current Members, you can become Members by paying the $25 annual membership fee at the door. Special note: Folks joining or renewing their memberships will receive a membership card valid through December 2017! We hope you will join us for these very special evenings! Cruise the Narrows Classic Car Show

All years, makes and models car show. Dash plaques for the first 250 cars and trophies awarded in 30 categories. Gig Harbor Garden Tour

Tour through seven gardens on a self guided tour to get great gardening tips and enjoy the weather with three garden demos and guest speakers Dan Hinkley and Sue Goetz. Gig Harbor Wine & Food Festival

Every July, a multi-day event, the Waterfront Sip & Stroll will take patrons on a tour of the beautiful Gig Harbor Downtown Waterfront for mingling, nibbling and sipping at a number of the great local businesses. Each Sip & Stroll stop will present a different selection of wine, craft beer, or spirits and delicious culinary bites, allowing patrons to acquaint themselves with the variety of establishments that the waterfront Harbor has to offer. Maritime Gig Festival

Happening in June, the Gig Harbor Chamber of Commerce organizes the Maritime Gig Festival. This event is the business communities way of saying thank you for the communities continual support. The Maritime Gig Festival takes place every full weekend in June in the historic downtown waterfront. On Saturday you can enjoy the family fun run, grande parade, business booths, children's festival, live entertainment and music, and a yacht festival. On Sunday you can take in the beautiful view of the harbor and the amazing showcase of cars at the Wheel's on the Water car show. Enjoy live music, entertainment, and a car show awards ceremony. Olalla Bluegrass Festival

The August Olalla Bluegrass Festival is a non-profit event dedicated to entertaining and enriching the local community. Pierce County Transit Trolley

Summer Arts Festival
