More than 30 years ago—November 9, 1990, to be exact—Robert “Chris” Wise would turn his passion into what would become his lifelong career. The owner and founder of RCW Construction LLC, Chris uses his skill, knowledge and passion during each home building or remodeling project he pursues.
“It’s a passion, not a job,” Chris shares. “It’s who I am, not what I do.”
Growing up, Chris looked up to—and admired—his father and grandfather, who were both general contractors in the family. Seeing their enthusiasm and dedication to a job well done, Chris was drawn to the field of construction, and he started his career working for his dad at 12 years old.
Chris recalls that his mother had a different career path in mind for her son, coming up with ways to dissuade him. But many years later, she would be the one to inspire her son to quit his job in construction and get his contractor’s license—as she had seen some of the work he had done and wanted him to build her new home. “I think she thought that she had a lifetime warranty on the house if I built it,” Chris laughs.
Years later, Chris would build his own family home. When his father came to visit, Chris observed his father walking around the space, very quiet, examining every detail of the home. While at the dinner table that night, he told his son, “You built your family a perfect home. I can’t find a flaw inside or out, not anywhere. You are such a better contractor than I ever was!”
