The Gig Harbor Canoe and Kayak Racing Team returned from Cincinnati earlier this month after securing its ninth National Championship title!
Under their new head coach, Alyson Morse, the local paddlers claimed numerous individual titles as well as the coveted Championship trophy at the ACA 2022 USA Canoe & Kayak Sprint National Championships. Several Gig Harbor athletes also qualified to represent the U.S. in international competitions in Europe this fall during the four days of competition.
Team founder, Alan Anderson, said that while there were many outstanding individual performances in Cincinnati, the athletes take the greatest pride in their ability to struggle and achieve as a team.
Alan went on say that there is significant growth happening amongst the other teams around the country and that having a target on their backs makes it doubly special to bring another Championship back to the Gig Harbor community.
