Under the new leadership of Darren Swenson, JAX is expanding its offerings and refreshing its approach, while preserving the trust and quality that have defined the salon for more than four decades. “I was drawn to JAX because it offered an opportunity to invest in something lasting in our community. I connected with the original owner on values that matter—supporting our team, delivering excellent customer service, and offering the highest quality in both experience and results. Making sure my wife could keep her hair stylist was a pretty strong motivator, too.” Darren says, smiling.

JAX Luxury Salon has long been known for its exceptional hair coloring and facials, along with waxing, massage therapy, brow services, and Bellami hair extensions. To enhance the guest experience and allow for expanded wellness services, the salon is currently planning a move into a larger, 5,300-square-foot space inside the Peninsula Shopping Center in March/April 2026.

The upgraded location will introduce new features, including a dedicated spa wing offering Japanese Head Spa treatments—an immersive service that includes scalp analysis, steam therapy, deep cleansing, massage, and nourishing serums to promote scalp health and deep relaxation. “We’re committed to creating spaces that feel serene and special. The new spa will reflect that intention in every detail,” Darren explains.

From the moment guests walk through the doors, the JAX experience is unmistakable. The guest services team greets each visitor with genuine warmth, guiding them through their appointment with ease. Guests receiving extended services are offered a complimentary glass of champagne or wine. Appointments begin with AVEDA rituals like scalp, neck, or hand massages, and services are always tailored to the individual’s goals.

“At JAX, luxury is defined by how our guests feel throughout their entire visit, from booking to styling, to walking out with confidence,” says Darren. “It’s not just about beautiful results, it’s about feeling seen, cared for, and completely at ease.”

As an AVEDA salon, JAX integrates plant-powered products and holistic principles into every service. The focus is on enhancing natural beauty, supporting total wellness, and delivering noticeable, lasting results without compromising on health or sustainability.

The leadership team—Salon Lead Stephenie, AVEDA Ambassador Amanda, and Guest Services Manager Aidan—works cohesively to ensure consistency and care across every guest interaction. Their attention to detail, paired with ongoing AVEDA education and technique training, keeps JAX at the forefront of the industry.

Fall brings a seasonal uptick in appointments as clients prepare for school, events, and holidays. Hair color services, touch-ups, facials, and waxing are especially in demand this time of year. And with thoughtful offerings like 15% off services for students under 21 and a complimentary 30-minute facial during a guest’s birthday month, JAX goes beyond expectations.

JAX is also actively involved in the Gig Harbor community. Most recently, they participated in the Maritime Gig Festival, where the team enjoyed connecting with clients outside the salon. “We’ve received incredible feedback from guests and neighbors,” Darren shares. “The most meaningful part has been hearing how much people love the energy and professionalism of our staff.”
