Every summer, Gig Harbor comes alive with music, food, and community spirit as the Maritime Gig Festival returns to the waterfront. Hosted by the Gig Harbor Chamber of Commerce, this celebration spans two days—Saturday, June 7, and Sunday, June 8—offering an unforgettable blend of entertainment, tradition, and small-town charm.
One of the weekend’s main events is the Maritime Gig Grande Parade, Saturday, June 7, 2025, at 10 am. This year’s parade theme, “Treasures of the Tide,” celebrates the community’s history and traditions. Spectators can line up anywhere along the parade route to enjoy colorful floats, community groups, marching bands, and more. The event draws between 6,000 and 8,000 attendees daily.
While some elements have changed for 2025—most notably, the Fun Run will not be held this year—the energy and excitement remain. The Chamber has made it easy to plan ahead and enjoy every moment. One big improvement? A dedicated shuttle service provided by All Black Limo offers rides to and from the festival grounds. Pierce Transit will also run a shuttle between the Kimball Drive Park & Ride and Judson Street. Guests have parking options downtown, including designated lots and shuttle-accessible areas. Free parking is available at the Kimball Drive Park & Ride and along the surrounding side streets near downtown. The United Methodist Church at 7400 Pioneer Way will also offer a pay-to-park lot. Please note that Harborview Drive and Pioneer Way will be closed to traffic during the festival. Early arrival is recommended to snag the best spots; signage will help direct traffic throughout the weekend.
Saturday begins with the Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast from 8 am to 10 am, which is free. It is open to the public, and donations to the Kiwanis are appreciated. After the Parade at 10 am, the waterfront district transforms into a hub of activity. Vendor booths, kid-friendly attractions, and live performances fill the streets, with entertainment rotating between two stages at Skansie Brothers Park throughout the day. Turn up the energy with an incredible music lineup, line dancing, and a special performance by Nick Cain! Don’t miss Kalimba, the ultimate Earth, Wind & Fire tribute band, lighting up the stage on Saturday. From acoustic sets to energetic bands, the music provides the perfect backdrop for exploring, shopping, and relaxing with friends and family.
The celebration continues Sunday with a full day of festivities. The Local Makers Market, opening at 10 am, brings together a collective of talented local artists and creators offering handcrafted accessories, home décor, artisan foods, gifts, and more. Built on creativity and community, Local Makers showcases the heart of Gig Harbor’s small business owners and gives festivalgoers a chance to shop with purpose while supporting families in the region.
Also on Sunday, visitors can enjoy interactive experiences with Harbor WildWatch, take in the Wheels on the Water Car Show, and witness a meaningful Gig Harbor tradition: The Blessing of the Fleet. This ceremony, hosted by the Saint Nicholas Catholic Church Knights of Columbus, begins with a procession to Skansie Park alongside the “Our Lady of the Harbor” icon. The service honors those lost at sea and offers prayers for the safety and success of those who work on the water.
Food is always a standout at the Maritime Gig Festival; this year is no exception. In addition to a variety of food trucks offering everything from festival favorites like Fisher Scones to other sweet and savory bites, the festival encourages visitors to enjoy the local eateries that call Gig Harbor home. From dockside dining to cozy cafes, exploring the town’s culinary scene is perfect. Whether grabbing a quick bite or making a dinner reservation, supporting local businesses is part of the celebration.
