When it comes time to retire, there’s no place like beautiful Gig Harbor to live your life to the fullest. And if you’re a senior looking for a wonderful place to call home, look no further than Harbor Place at Cottesmore!

Cottesmore has been in Gig Harbor for more than five decades, building Harbor Place in 2006 to expand the range of services available. Harbor Place at Cottesmore is a premier independent retirement and assisted living community located on the Cottesmore campus. They’ve created an active environment that keeps residents healthy and happy, tailoring their programs to ensure that every resident's interests and needs are met.

Moving from one’s own home to a retirement or assisted living community can be challenging; there are sure to be questions and apprehensions when searching for the ideal community to best suit your personal needs.

By scheduling a tour, you will have an opportunity to visit the community and see all that it has to offer. And more importantly, they will meet with you and your family to guide you in your personal transition, provide helpful resources and answer any questions you may have. Harbor Place offers monthly leases without a buy-in investment required for new residents to join their community.

“It’s an honor to serve our seniors and give them many opportunities to thoroughly enjoy their retirement years. We take care of the cooking and cleaning, freeing up their day for adventure!” says Sue Wilhelm, campus sales and marketing director.

With the truly unique lifestyle it offers, residents are quickly impressed by their new environment and carefree schedule doing the things they enjoy. Offering numerous opportunities, both social and educational, residents can choose activities like swimming, joining an exercise class or participating in group activities like outings, book club, card games or craft and chats. “We’re constantly creating new activities and ways of doing things to remain active and safe,” affirms Krissy Rehberger, lifestyles director.

Harbor Place offers residents something truly special and unexpected. The upscale decor adds elegance with a home-like feel. The hallways are adorned with art on the walls complemented by the residents' special touches at their doorways.

The residents dine in style, and enjoy delicious chef-prepared, restaurant-style meals with an extensive all-day fine dining menu. Housekeeping services and scheduled transportation are also provided. No detail is overlooked at Harbor Place.

People come first, and the team at Harbor Place at Cottesmore is dedicated to creating an enriching lifestyle for their residents and a rewarding work environment for their valued associates. “We are a family,” says Stacy Hooper, executive director. “Our warm, caring associates are dedicated to creating a community you will be proud to call home, and we are available to provide personal assistance when you need a helping hand.”

Everyone who calls Harbor Place home is treated as an individual with special attention given to any range of needs they have. Skilled nursing and rehabilitation services are offered on campus, which enables the residents of Harbor Place to easily access out-patient therapy services to help them work through life’s unexpected obstacles.

“During the current pandemic that has swept across the country, Harbor Place’s number one priority remains keeping our residents healthy and safe! This has been accomplished through the diligence of our incredible staff, patience and participation of our residents, and cooperation of our residents’ families,” according to Hayley Britt, resident care director. “I’m so proud of our nursing team, who has been recognized for excellent care in achieving seven consecutive years of deficiency-free state surveys.”

In addition to delivering excellence in service and care to their residents, members of the staff are proud to participate in various groups to include the Gig Harbor Rotary, Health Care Providers Council of Pierce County, Pierce County Fall Prevention Coalition, Aging Smart Network of Gig Harbor, Gig Harbor Chamber of Commerce and Chamber Board of Directors. “We love serving the greater Gig Harbor community,” smiles Sue.
