“From the time I was a child, I have been interested in the healing power of touch,” says Darcie Miller, Washington State and Nationally Board Certified (ARCB) Reflexologist Reiki Master/teacher and owner of Light in Balance, located in Gig Harbor.
It was nearly a decade ago that Darcie experienced her first Reiki session while on a retreat. Shortly after returning from that retreat she says, “There came a point in my life where I felt unsettled and out of balance, and I sought out a local Reiki practitioner for a session. I again felt wonderful after receiving Reiki and was offered an opportunity to study and learn Reiki.” She enrolled in Reiki training and became a Master Reiki practitioner/teacher. During this time, she was introduced to the healing sounds of Tibetan bowls and took classes to learn how to play them for herself and others. Darcie incorporates sound healing with Tibetan bowls into each Reiki session. She recently attended a Crystal Bowl Mastery class in Sedona, Arizona, and has added crystal bowls to all of her sound sessions.
Tibetan bowls have been used for thousands of years as a method of healing for both physical and mental illness. “Our bodies are vibrational by nature, and when we are at dis-ease or out of balance, disease can set in. Vibrations from Tibetan and/or crystal bowls can help bring your body back into a state of balance on a cellular level,” says Darcie. Sound healing can help with anxiety, tension, stress, side effects from chemotherapy, diabetes, ADHD, insomnia and depression, to name a few.
As a result of her lifelong interest in the healing power of touch, Darcie studied reflexology at the Seattle Reflexology and Massage School, where she completed her training in reflexology and became both Washington State and Nationally Board Certified.
At Life in Balance, Darcie offers her clients multiple holistic modalities using Reiki, reflexology, cranial/sacral reflexology, sound healing with Tibetan and crystal bowls and guided meditations. She provides private and group sound healing sessions, and also offers corporate events for relaxation in the workplace. In addition, Darcie holds monthly Tibetan and crystal bowl concerts. These concerts offer a nurturing space where you can relax, unwind and quiet your mind. Experiencing these extraordinary sounds can be beneficial for reducing chronic pain, stress and many other health challenges.
“My studio reflects my personality,” she says. “I offer a serene and welcoming sanctuary where clients feel emotionally safe; you can expect to experience an unhurried session.
"Seeing the positive results each of my clients experience, and being able to share a holistic approach to their own healing," is what she finds most rewarding. "Educating my clients about taking care of themselves is the best gift they could ever give themselves."
Darcie has called Gig Harbor home for nearly 15 years. Not only does she give back to the community through her work at Light in Balance, she is also actively involved with Altrusa of Gig Harbor. In 2009 she also chartered a support group for parents who have children born with congenital heart defects.
“My own personal journey of growth and healing, along with the passion I have for sharing it with others, is a huge part of my success,” says Darcie. “My teachers, mentors and clients have played almost as large a role. I am so very grateful for their teachings, support, encouragement and recommendations.”
Darcie welcomes the opportunity to help you begin your healing journey to a new you, or reawaken a part of you that may have been put on hold for a while.
