Fourth Annual Hogs, Dogs and Rods Motorcycle & Car Show
By Jillian Chandler
Saturday, August 28, will mark the fourth Annual Hogs, Dogs and Rods Motorcycle & Car Show. Held noon to 5pm at the Gig Harbor Eagles (4425 Burnham Drive in Gig Harbor), everyone is sure to enjoy an afternoon at this “old-fashion car show,” featuring cool bikes and cars, pinup/pageant girls, food and live music—and, of course, community.
“Our community needs to catch up on fun,” smiles Kathy Black, organizer and creator of the event. “The Gig Harbor Eagles only hosts two open houses all year long, and this is a chance to see how much we do as a Fraternity and what we're all about—which is giving back.”
The event, which is open to both members and non-members alike, is free to attend, though all donations are greatly appreciated and will benefit the Northwest Kidney Centers for support, transportation and education. There will be a membership drive during the event as well; a great opportunity for the community to find out more about the organization.
And this event isn’t just for the grownups! “Kids love to dance and look at Heroes on Harleys and eat warm pretzels from our neighbor Hy lu Hee Hee, and hot dogs and corn dogs!” shares Kathy. “Kids can also get their pictures taken next to cool cars and lovely timeless vintage beauties.”
There will be live music by the Big Bear Band all afternoon to accompany the festivities.
“Gig Harbor is used to unique, artsy, sassy, and high-energy historic, wholesome, nostalgic fun,” says Kathy. “We are at full capacity for bikes and cars, and the vintage-style pinup girls are excited to have their bios read to the audience.”
To be part of it all, be sure to mark your calendars for August 28 and head on down to the Gig Harbor Eagles! For additional information, call Kathy Black at 253.301.9345 or email kathygh13@gmail.com.
